Camping safaris put you closer to the wild than any lodge can. Nights are spent at tented and public campsites inside or beside the parks, with meals prepared by your safari crew under a sky full of stars. It is the most immersive and best-value way to experience Tanzania, ideal for travellers who want adventure over luxury.
Camping is at its best in the dry season, June to October, when the ground is firm, the nights are crisp and clear, and wildlife concentrates around water. December to February is also comfortable, between the rains. We generally steer clear of the long rains in April and May, when some campsites and tracks become difficult.
